Half a dozen locals, too, were injured in the clash. Among them, the condition of Dharoharadevi, 50, is critical. She is undergoing treatment at the same hospital. Rambinod Yadav, a local, claimed that the dacoits fired in the air when the villagers tried to capture them.
However, Jayaprakash, the injured, claimed that they were not dacoits but workers at a brick factory near the village.
He said that the deceased too were workers and had gone to the village to help chase the robbers. The police said they are investigating the incident.
