KATHMANDU, July 8:  The World Cup might have lost its charms for many Nepalis after the exit of their favourite South American teams -- Brazil and Argentina. But that´s not the end.

Things will move on for Argentina fan Babujan Thapa, who will now be watching the World Cup final match in person in South Africa on Sunday, cheering for the Netherlands after his dream-team´s unexpected quarterfinals exit. [break]

Rameshwar Rijal, an avid fan of Brazil, will however stand in support of Spain at the Soccer City Stadium as the other finalist Netherlands crushed his hopes to see Brazil win the coveted trophy for a record sixth time.

The two Nepalis supporting two different teams will leave together for Johannesburg, South Africa, on Friday during their “Free World Cup Tour to South Africa” scheme sponsored by Hyundai´s official partner for Nepal -- Laxmi Intercontinental Pvt Ltd. The scheme was run from May 17 to June 10 for the customers of Hyundai in Nepal and the winners were chosen through lucky draw. Other two winners citing personal reasons refused to participate in the tour although the company would bear all the expenses for the trip.

Ganesh Shrestha, chairman of Laxmi Interconctinental, handed over Nepali flags to the lucky winners on Thursday amidst a function in the capital. Likewise, Gi Beak Lee, deputy general manager of Hyundai for the Asia-Pacific region, gave the World Cup final tickets to the two Nepalis, who will be returning home on July 14.

“It is a great opportunity to watch the World Cup final,” said Rijal.
