Two die in road accidents

ITAHARI, June 5: Two people have died in separate road accidents that took place on the Biratchok-Belbari road of Morang district Friday morning.



According to the Area Police Office, Belbari, Padam Bahadur Rai, a resident of Indrapur-5, Morang died on the spot after he was hit by a truck coming towards Itahari from Kakarbhitta.



Eye-witnesses said Rai was knocked down by the speeding truck when he was taking a stroll on the road in the morning.



Similarly, a youth was knocked down to death by a vehicle at Lalbhitti, Belbari-4 in the morning today. The identity of the deceased youth is not ascertained, according to the Area Police Office, Belbari.



Meanwhile, in Udayapur, a man died due to snake bite at Beltar on Thursday.



Forty-year-old Jhalak Bahadur Karki, a resident of Beltar VDC-3 was bitten by a poisonous snake while he was sleeping in his house. He was rushed to the local health post but died in course of treatment, police said.



So far three people have died due to snake bite in Beltar VDC this year.
