Transport strike called off

KATHMANDU, July 26: The public transport strike has been called off in the Kathmandu Valley after the government officials and transport entrepreneurs reached an agreement on Sunday afternoon.


The District Administration Office, Kathmandu agreed to provide Rs. 400,000 as compensation for vandalized microbus and treating the injured, according to chief district officer Bhola Prasad Siwakoti.


Microbus entrepreneurs have called on public transport strike after students set a microbus ablaze in front of Tri Chandra College. Due to the strike, there were very few public vehicles on the road causing difficulties for people.
