Arrivals from Sri Lanka increased by a whopping 75.4 percent -- the biggest rise for the month -- followed by China with positive growth 66.6 percent.[break]
Similarly, the arrivals from Japan, Singapore and Thailand have also increased by 21.5 percent, 30.3 percent and 10.1 percent respectively.
However, arrivals from Malaysia and South Korea market declined by 32.8 percent and 29.4 percent respectively. The Asian segment registered a positive growth of 28.9 percent in aggregate.
In South Asian segment, arrivals from India -- the largest tourist generating market for Nepal -- registered 24.5 percent growth. Arrivals from Pakistan and Sri Lanka also witnessed positive growth of 23.6 percent and 75.4 percent respectively. Though arrivals from Bangladesh decreased by 34.2 percent, South Asian segment registered positive growth of 8.6 percent during the month.
European market also observed mixed performance with overall growth at 7.8 percent. During the month, arrivals from Australia, Canada and USA increased by 2.8 percent, 11.7 percent and 4.8 percent respectively.
Total number of tourists visiting the country over the first nine months of 2011 has reached 369,844. Nepal targets to welcome more than one million visitors during the year.
