Deep recorded straight sets wins in two matches played in the men´s singles match of group A. Deep eased past Suman Shakya of Lalitpur 13-11, 11-6, 11-3 and Rajendra Dulal of Armed Police Force (APF) 11-3, 11-3, 11-6.
Similarly, Shiva Sundar Gothe of APF also earned straight sets 3-0 win over Ganesh Tamang and Rajendra Rai of Sunsari. Chandan Shahi of APF beat Prajwal Shrestha of Tribhuvan Army Club 3-1 and Ganesh of Sunsari in three straight sets.
In group B match, Amarlal Malla of Nepal Police beat Sumed Pradhan of Bhaktapur and Suresh Bajracharya of Lalitpur in three straight sets. Purushottam Bajracharya of APF saw off Suresh and Ashis Awale, both from Lalitpur, with comfortable 3-0 win. Mani Kumar Lama of Police beat Sunil Maharja of Lalitpur with 3-2 and Bilos Shrehsta of Kathmandu 3-0 sets. Nihal Shrestha of Kaski overcame Avayraj Shrestha of Police 3-2 and Bilos in 3-0 sets.
In the round robin league of women´s singles event, top-seeded Nabinta Shreshta of Police thrashed Hira Nakarmi of Kathmandu in three straight sets and Apekshya Shakya of Sunsari with 3-1. Elina Maharjan of Police thumped her colleague Erica Maharjan and Apekshya in straight sets of 3-0 each and Rabina Maharja of Police also earned similar sets win over Erica and Selisha Khadgi of APF. Swechha Nembang of Police recorded 3-2 sets win over Kajol Raunier of Kaski and 3-0 over Selisha.
The junior girl´s singles saw Sonu Thapa of APF earned victory in all three matches played. Similarly, Soniya Tamang and Dikshya Dahal of Sunsari, Dikshya Tamang of Lalitpur, Sujata Duwal of Bhaktapur and Norden Tamang of Police faced two wins and a defeat each.
Earlier, National Sports Council Member Secretary Yuvaraj Lama inaugurated the event. The championship with total cash prize of Rs 425,000 is the domestic table tennis event with the highest cash prize.
The event features 20 players in men´s section including 16 top seeds and 10 top seeds in the women´s section.
