Top MPRF-R leaders quit party

KATHMANDU: Top three leaders of the Raj Kishore Yadav-led Madhesi People´s Rights Forum-Republican (MPRF-R) have resigned from the party on Saturday. Co-chairman BP Yadav, Vice-Chairman Sitaram Agrawal and General Secretary Ekbal Ahmed Shah quit the party to join the Tarai Madhes Democratic Party (TMDP).



Yadav, who is also a former Constituent Assembly (CA) member, had lost his CA membership as per Section 33 of Corruption Prevention Act, 2002 after the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) filed corruption cases against him at the Special Court on May 11, 2011. Yadav was arrested on April 19, 2011 on the charge of misusing diplomatic passport. [break]



Talking to Republica, another leader Shah said, “We are going to join the Mahantha Thakur-led Tarai Madhes Democratic Party on Sunday.” TMDP Spokesperson Sarbendra Nath Shukla said, “Within a few days, leaders form JP Gupta-led Tarai Madhes National Campaign are also set to join our party. Very soon, we will also forge election alliance with Bijay Kumar Gachchhadar-led MPRF-D and Rajendra Mahato-led Sadbhavana Party.”
