Three die in Janakpur

JANAKPUR, Sept 11: Three protestors have died in Janakpur on Friday in police firing during curfew hours. The police had fired bullets at the protestors for defying curfew by holding demonstrations despite the prohibitory orders.

Dilip Poudel of Sinurajoda died on the spot at Piradi Chowk while Nitu Yadav of Jamuniya and Sanjay Chaudhari were pronounced dead at Janakpur Zonal Hospital.According to the hospital's superintendent, Dr Sanjay Thakur, Poudel and Yadav had sustained bullet injuries to their heads whereas Chaudhari was shot at his chest.

Fifty three others including Parameshwar Shah, Jitendra Pandit, Biltu Mandal, Balmukunda Shah, Krishna Mandal and Jaya Prakash Yadav were injured during the protests. Most of them have sustained head injuries as well as injuries to the chest and arms, according to the hospital.

Protestors had tried to enter the restricted area at Kapileshwar, Piradi Chowk, Bajrang Chowk, Jiromaikal, Murali Chowk and Hanuman Nagar in Janakpur throughout the day.
