Taskforce submits report to CC sub committee

KATHMANDU, June 27: The dispute resolution sub committee under the Constitutional Council (CC) held a meeting at Singha Durbar, in the capital on Monday morning.



During the meeting, the taskforce headed by Nepal Sadbhawana Party leader Laxman Lal Karna presented its report on state restructuring and other contentious issues of the constitution writing.[break]



The taskforce, which was entrusted with resolving 22 issues related to form of governance and 26 to state restructuring, has suggested the French model of the form of governance in which the president is directly elected and the prime minister is elected through parliament by a majority vote.



Apart from Karna, the five-member task-force includes Khim Lal Devkota from UCPN (Maoist), Radheshyam Adhikari from Nepali Congress and Sapana Pradhan Malla and Agni Kharel from CPN UML.



The sub committee had been unable to hold a meeting since June 14, after its coordinator and UCPN (Maoist) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal was busy due to the internal bickering within his party.The sub committee will next meet on Thursday.
