KATHMANDU, Feb 4: The Task force formed by the Janata Samajwadi Party- Nepal (JSP-Nepal), led by Upendra Yadav has started discussing the ordinances recently introduced by the government.

Before deciding whether to support or oppose the ordinance presented by the government in Parliament on January 31, JSP-Nepal formed the Task Force to engage with relevant stakeholders and discuss the contents of the ordinances.

The government will present the ordinance for decision in the House of Representatives (HoR) and the National Assembly on February 6. With the ruling Nepali Congress (NC) and CPN-UML holding a majority in the HoR, the ordinance is likely to be approved.

However, the ruling coalition of NC, UML, and Loktantrik Samajbadi Party (LSP) does not hold a majority in the National Assembly. A majority requires 30 members in the 59-member National Assembly.

In this context, the JSP-Nepal plays a decisive role to endorse the ordinances. JSP-Nepal has three members in the National Assembly.

JSP-Nepal Chairman Upendra Yadav said that the party formed a Task Force, chaired by Raj Kishor Yadav, during its meeting on Monday. The Task Force will hold discussions with experts on Tuesday. "After discussing all matters in detail, we will decide whether to support or oppose the ordinance," he said. JSP-Nepal will finalize its decision by Wednesday.
