Ratnajit defeated his club-mate Dipesh Dhami, who clinched the U-17 title on Monday, 21-10, 21-18 in the men"s singles final played at the court of APF headquarters on Tuesday while Sara Devi beat APF"s Sabina Panthi 21-17, 21-13 in the women"s singles final.[break]
Ratnajit bagged Rs 50,000 while Sara Devi received Rs 40,000. Dhami got Rs 25,000 as the men"s singles runner-up while Panthi received Rs 20,000.
Ratnajit had clinched the men"s singles titles in the Open Badminton Championship organized by Nepal Police Club and in the Puspalal Memorial Ranking Badminton.
Ratnajit had defeated Bikash Shrestha, then Nepal No 1, in the final of the last edition of Krishna Mohan Memorial Badminton Championship.
´Dipesh (Dhami) made a few mistakes in the first set and made it easy for me to win the match,´ said Ratnajit after defending the title. ´Dipesh plays power game and it sometimes gives advantage to the opponent,´ he added.
Meanwhile, Sara Devi said that her opponent gave away negative points for the easy win. ´Sabina (Panthi) has good stamina and strokes but she was not confident during the final match,´ said Sara Devi.
Panthi said that she could not perform to her potential in the final because of injury. Panthi had received left ankle injury during the women"s doubles final on Monday.

Meanwhile, Jitendra Pariyar won the men"s singles title of the Fifth APF Open Lawn Tennis Championship on Tuesday. Pariyar defeated Kumar Adhikari 6-1, 7-5 in the final played at the APF headquarters. Pariyar bagged Rs 50,000 while Adhikari received Rs 25,000.
Likewise, Ganga Sharma of Pokhara clinched the women"s singles trophy of the event. Sharma became the winner as Malika Rana of Lalitpur retired after the first set. Sharma had won the first set 7-6. Sharma got Rs 40,000 while Rana bagged Rs 20,000.
In the veterans" singles final of above-35 age group, former minister Kamal Thapa edged past Raju Shrestha 6-1, 6-1.
The pair of Chandra Shahi and Dinesh Tuladhar lifted the veteran"s doubles title in above-45 age group. Shahi and Tuladhar beat APF"s Durja Kumar Rai and Krishna Raj Ghale 3-6, 6-2, 10-8.
