TAAN to explore Humla

KATHMANDU, March 31: Trekking Agencies´ Association of Nepal (TAAN) has initiated the process of exploring new trekking routes in Humla district.



Issuing a press statement on Sunday, TAAN said a seven-member team led by Rana Bahadur Khadka, its first vice president, is leaving for Humla on April 2. The team will trek Nepalgunj-Hisla-Mugu route for 23 days before returning back to Nepalgunj.[break]



“We are exploring new side trails for the Great Himalaya Trail (GHT). We will explore and recommend a new trekking itinerary for the Humla-Mugu region,” the statement quoted Khadka as saying.



The exploration trip is supported by GHT Development Program under the SNV Nepal.



“We will also hold interactions with local stakeholders in the area. These interactions will help us get feedbacks and suggestions from the locals,” he added.



TAAN has been organizing a series of exploration trips in recent years. Last year, it explored Lumba-Sumba area in the Kanchanjunga region, Lower Manaslu in the Manaslu region and Dolpo in the mid-western region.
