KATHMANDU, Feb 23: Swayambhu festival organized by Kathmandu Metropolitan City-15 started from Saturday. The week-long Swayambhu Festival highlights the historical, cultural, and religious significance of Swayambhu at the Bhuiyankhel Chowk in Swayambhu.

The festival, running until March 1, prioritizes promoting local products, art, culture, and tourism, according to Ward Chairperson Ishwor Man Dangol. He expressed confidence that the festival will help boost the local economy by refining the tourism potential of the Swayambhu area. Ward Secretary Pramod Adhikari confirmed that various sub-committees have already been formed to organize the event.

On the first day of the festival, organizers held a rally with a tableau. The rally toured the special locations of Ward 15 and culminated in a gathering. At 1 pm, Kathmandu’s Mayor Balen Shah officially inaugurated the cultural program as the chief guest.

The festival, themed "Pride of Ancestors, Nepali Glory," features cultural performances, traditional art exhibitions, indigenous cuisine, health camps, blood donations, Ranjana script writing, and face painting activities.
