Storms likely in five provinces as authorities urge caution

KATHMANDU, March 16: A western low-pressure system and local winds are partially influencing Nepal's weather, with authorities urging people in Koshi, Madhesh, Bagmati, Gandaki, and Lumbini provinces to take precautions, as storms could disrupt daily life and road and air transport.

The Meteorological Forecasting Division reports that the Sudurpaschim, Karnali, and Gandaki provinces have partly to generally cloudy skies, while Lumbini and other hilly regions remain partly cloudy. The rest of the country has mostly clear weather. Thunderstorms with light rain are occurring in some parts of Karnali and one or two locations in the Sudurpaschim province.

During the day, Sudurpaschim, Karnali, and the country's hilly regions will remain partly to generally cloudy, while other areas will see partly cloudy to mostly clear skies. Thunderstorms with light rain may occur in a few places in the hilly areas of the Sudurpaschim and Karnali provinces and one or two locations in other hilly regions.

Some high-altitude and mountainous areas of the Sudurpaschim and Karnali provinces may receive light snowfall, along with one or two locations in other high-altitude and mountainous regions. In the afternoon, storms could develop in a few places in the Koshi, Madhesh, Bagmati, Gandaki, and Lumbini provinces.

Tonight, Koshi and other hilly areas will have partly cloudy skies, while the rest of the country will experience partly cloudy to mostly clear conditions. Light rain with thunderstorms may occur in one or two hilly locations, while some high-altitude and mountainous areas may receive light snowfall. Storms may also develop in parts of the Koshi and Madhesh provinces.

Authorities have urged people in Koshi, Madhesh, Bagmati, Gandaki, and Lumbini provinces to take precautions, as storms could disrupt daily life, health, and road and air transport.
