State employees to help clear debris

KATHMANDU, May 7: At a time when people from all walks of life have come together to support the efforts aimed at helping earthquake victims, the government has instructed its employees to do their bit. 



Under the leadership of Chief Secretary Lila Mani Poudel, government officials, including security forces will join hands in clearing up debris at 17 different areas of the Kathmandu Valley. The clean up drive, scheduled for May 9, will start from 7am to 10 am in the morning.

“Each group will include government officials and some Armed Police Force, Nepal Army and Nepal Police personnel. State employees have been informed of the site where they should reach to join in the effort,” said Uttar Kumar Khatri, spokesperson at the Office of Prime Minister and Council of Ministers.

“All involved in the Bagmati cleaning campaign are also invited to join us in the drive,” he added.



The areas to be covered under the drive are Bhaktapur Durbar Square, Bhaktapur-Chyamhasing, Bhaktapur-Byasi, Bhaktapur-Mahangkal, Suryabinak- Durbarsquare, Kathmandu-Sankhu, Lalitpur-Khokana, Lalitpur-Bungmati, Kathmandu-Tokha, Dharmaistali-Kavresthan, Naikap, Switachar, Ramkot-Sitapaila, Kirtipur-Panga, Kritpur-Chardharay, Kirtipur-Itagol, Lalitpur-Harisiddhi.



The mega-earthquake of 7.9 magnitude that rocked Nepal on April 25 have rendered serious damages across the country.
