Women´s U-20 Handball from Oct 2
KATHMANDU: Nepal Handball Association (NHA) announced U-20 Women´s Open National Handball Tournament for the first time. The NHA executive committee decided on Sunday to organize the three-day tournament from October 2 in the capital. Likewise, the executive committee meeting decided to host its general assembly on October 5. The meeting formed several committees to host the IHF Challenge Trophy in Nepal in December. The International Handball Federation (IHF) had handed hosting right of the Challenge Trophy to Nepal in April.
Former world champ supports Nepali Karate
KATHMANDU: Angelo Spataro, former world champion karateka from France, handed over sports gears and equipment worth Rs 100,000 to Nepali national karate team on Sunday. Spataro and National Sports Council Member Secretary Yubaraj Lama handed over the sports gears and equipment to Nepal Karate-do Federation President Dawa Gurung in a function in the capital on Sunday.
East Pole, Prime triumph
KATHMANDU: East Pole and Prime College won their respective matches on Sunday during the First Nine-A-Side Football Tournament being held in Kathmandu. East Pole eased past Lawrence 4-1 with two goals each from Sabin Rumba and Amit Shrestha. Dipesh Tamang scored a consolation goal for Lawrence. Prime saw off Sri Shanti Griha 3-1. Babis Bajracharya, Bivek Lama and Sabin Tamang were on target for the winning side. Som Lama netted for Sri Shanti. Similarly, Premier and Adarsh recorded victories in other matches of the day.
Premier registered a hard-fought 4-3 win over U-2 with a hat-trick from Sushant Bode. Suraj Thapa netted the other goal for Premier. Devraj Tamang, Sujan Thapa and Sonam scored a goal each for U-2. Adarsh thumped Texas 7-0. Samir Bari netted twice for Adarsh while Sanjiv Rajbanshi, Binod Bista, Shiva Khatri, Kishor Duna and Mukesh Kunwar also achieved the target. The tournament is organized by TIA.
