Triathlon tourney in Pokhara
KATHMANDU: Western Region Sports Development Committee and Nepal Triathlon Association (NTA) are to organize Triathlon Championship on Fewa Lake, Pokhara on Saturday. According to NTA General Secretary Nilendra Shrestha, around 40 athletes, including some from the Nepal Army, are expected to participate in the championship.
Army, APF athletes dominate road races
KATHMANDU: Nepal Army athletes clean swept top three position of men´s 5km road race organized jointly by Nepal Amateur Athletics Association and Nepal Mountain Sports Federation in Kathmandu on Thursday. Hari Kumar Rimal clocked 15 minutes 39 seconds to win gold medal, while Raj Kumar Bista covered the distance in 15 minutes 40.6 seconds for silver.
Kalyan Baniya finished the race with a timing of 15 minutes 43.3 seconds to claim bronze. Armed Police Force (APF) athletes dominated the women´s 5km road race. APF´s Bindra Shrestha clocked 19 minutes 24 seconds to clinch top position, while her club-mate Krishneshwari Sintakala finished on the second position with a timing of 19:35.5. Another APF athlete Gita Khatri clocked 19:56.3 to claim bronze medal.
Shrestha, Nepali in 2nd round
KATHMANDU: Mohan Nepali and Pramod Shrestha entered into the second round of the First London Open Snooker Tournament. Nepali thrashed Raju Tamang 3-0 while Shrestha edged past Nitesh Rajbhandari 3-1 on Thursday. Likewise, Manish Pradhan, Basant Khatri, Aalok Yonjan, Saroj Khadgi, Rakesh Maharjan, Nandan Thapa, Raju Chaudhary, Khemaraj Adhikari, Kul Bahadur Dalami, Mandip Laugan, Nishchal Pokharel, Rukesh Maharjan and Niran Pujari won their respective match on Thursday in the tournament being held in London Snooker House, Lalitpur.
Bauddha, Ideal Model in QF
KATHMANDU: Bauddha Children Heaven and Ideal Model School reached the quarterfinals of the Second Inter School Boys´ Handball Tournament organized by Kathmandu District Handball Association. Bauddha thrashed Little Moon 12-1 while Ideal beat Amar School 8-3 on Thursday. Likewise, Joseph beat Shiksha Niketan 7-4, Jugal defeated Brihaspati 7-5 and Brihaspati edged past Reliance 6-4 to reach quarterfinals.
