Special security provided to Khatun

BARA, Oct 20: Special security arrangements had been made for CPN-UML candidate Nejama Khatun, the wife of deceased Mohammad Alam, on Sunday for her to file her candidacy at the district election office at Kalaiya, Bara.



She will contest the polls from constituency 4 of Bara.



UML leaders KP Sharma Oli, Jhalanath Khanal and Madhav Kumar Nepal had joined the last rites of her dead husband. [break]



Senior leaders of the CPN-UML said they have picked Khatun as a candidate for the constituency on the demand of the people. Hundreds of Nepal Police and Armed Police Force personnel had been mobilized for the security of Khatun. She is an active member of the regional committee of constituency 4 of the party.



Party cadres have said that they would leave no stone unturned to ensure Khatun´s victory in the upcoming Constituent Assembly (CA) polls.



Khatun´s husband Alam was shot at by unidentified gunmen on October 4. Critically injured Alam was airlifted to Kathmandu for treatment. Doctors attending to him at Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital had pronounced him dead on October 10 after his heart stopped functioning.
