Six killed in two Doti landslide incidents

DOTI, Aug 11: At least six people including five of same family have been killed in separate landslide incidents triggered by incessant rainfall here in the district on Monday night, locals said.

According to Bhakta Singh, a local, a total of five people of Dambar Bahadur Bista's family were killed at Daud VDC-3 of the district when a landslide caved-in his house.The deceased are Bista's wife Gaura Devi, 35, her sons Harka, 12, and Birendra, 8, and daughters Saru, 8, and eight month-old Bhawana.

Dambar Bahadur Bista has been injured in the incident and undergoing treatment at local health center.

Likewise, Champa Devi Singh, 75, of Daud VDC-1 died when a landslide buried her.

Police, however, said that they are yet to get detail information regarding the incidents.

According to District Police Office, a team of police has been deputed toward the incident site.

Nawaraj Awasthi, Assistant Sub-Inspector at Daud-based police office informed that they are unable to launch the rescue operations due to continuous heavy rainfall at the incident site.
