Players not attending the training could not be selected for the team.
“The decision to bar him from training was taken by Nepal Volleyball Association (NVA) for violating discipline,” NVA general secretary Birendra Khadka said.

“All the players and departments were informed to attend the training camp by October 6 but he missed the deadline,” Khadka added. “Despite my lobbying for him, the association decided against him.”
Shahi claimed that he could not attend the training due to closure of highway after Dashain. “The landslides have closed the highway,” he said. “I had informed Khadka and chief coach Shanti Khadka about it.”
Shahi said he was first asked to join from second day and then later informed that he would not be allowed to participate in the third phase.
Shahi is one of the best volleyball players representing Nepal Police Club (NPC) and was adjudged the best blocker in the Fifth National Games and recently held Men’s National League Volleyball Tournament.
“He is one of the best and it’s unfortunate that he will not be participating,” Khadka said adding that chances of Shahi’s return in team are slim.
