The deceased have been identified as Sahila Thapa of Bahrabise, Sindhupalchowk; Tika Lakshmi Koirala, 28, of Kusunti, Lalitpur currently working a staff nurse at Life Care Hospital, Kathmandu; Santosh Rayamajhi, 36, of Kuleshwar, Kathmandu-14; and nurse Zenita Rai of Necha, Solukhumbu. Rayamajhi is younger brother of the bus owner Nirmal Rayamajhi.
Three of the injured are in critical condition while others have returned home, according to Udayapur district police. Dr Prerana Dahal of BP Koirala Institute of Health Sciences (BPKIHS) is undergoing treatment at the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the hospital while bus owner Nirmal has been referred to Kathmandu for treatment. Nurse Sonam Pradhan of Life Care Hosptal is being treated in Biratnagar.
Meanwhile, two industrial security guards returning to their residential quarters on a bicycle died Wednesday night when a motorbike knocked them down at Sonapur, Sunsari.
The deceased have been identified as Tanka Khatiwada of Diktel-5, Khotang and Som Raj Khatri of Juropani-4, Jhapa who were working at Sonapur-based Pashupati Oil Industry, according to the police. They breathed their last while undergoing treatment in Dharan on Thursday morning. The motorcyclist is absconding.
Meanwhile, a motorcyclist died after being hit by a bus at Panchkhal-6 in Kavrepalanchowk on Thursday. Kumar Khanal of Kalinchowk-1, Dhading, died on the spot after his motorcycle was hit by the bus heading to Dolalghat from Kathmandu, the police said.
