Scottish batsmen punished Nepali bowlers scoring 214 runs off 49 overs losing all the wickets after they opted to bat first winning the toss. Nepal could only make 157 runs losing all wickets in 45.3 overs. [break]
Scotland had an average opening as the openers Sam Page and Ross McLean scored 36 runs for the first wicket. Successful bowler for Nepal, Bhuwan Karki broke the partnership as he trapped Mclean Leg Before Wicket (LBW) for 12 runs.
Page and Freddie Coleman continued to punish the Nepali bowlers as they shared 35-run partnership. Rahul BK took the wicket of Page (28) in the last ball of the 16th over.
With the fall of Page, Scotland lost two quick wickets of Mathew Cross and Peter Ross. Cross and Ross were run out with their personal score 12 and 5 runs respectively.
Coleman and Aman Bailwal had 82-run partnership to take the team into a strong position. Krishna Karki removed Baolwal from the crease in the 44.3 over as the score of Scotland was 185 runs on board.
Coleman was the highest scorer with 81 runs off 104 balls with six boundaries. Coleman was sent back to the pavilion by Bhuwan Karki. Karki then sent Henry Edwards (3), Scott Mcelnea (0) and Peter Legget (6) back to the pavilion. Kyle Smith (0) was run out as the innings of Scotland ended on 214 runs.
Karki gave away 41 runs in his 10-over spell to take five wickets. Krishna Karki and Rahul BK shared a wicket each while three of the Scottish batsmen were run out.
Nepal did not start well as it lost two wickets in the first over. Opener Subash Khakurel and Sagar Pun were sent back to the pavilion in the first over. Both Khakurel and Pun were out for a duck in Sadler’s ball.
By the end of the fourth over, Nepal lost Fajlur Rehman (4) as the score was seven runs. Naresh Budhayer was also sent back to the pavilion with only 12 runs. Captain Prithu Baskota and Pradeep Airee stayed in the crease and made 17-run partnership. Airee was sent back to the pavilion in Page’s ball with nine runs to his credit. Rajesh Pulami (16) was bowled by Bailwal. Pulami and Baskota shared 62-run partnership off 116 balls which was the highest run partnership for Nepal.
Nepal continued to lose wickets after the fall of Pulami. Krishna Karki (9) and Rahul BK (4) were run out. Nepal had lost eight wickets in 41.2 overs with 129 runs on board. Skipper Baskota was bowled by Sadler for 67 runs. Baskota played 117 balls to become the highest scorer for Nepal. Bhuwan Karki (12) was the last man to be sent back into the pavilion.
Sadler took four wickets of Nepal and become the most successful bowler for Scotland. Bailwal took two wickets while Page and McElnea shared a wicket each.
