KATHMANDU, APRIL 8: The Supreme Court on Wednesday nullified its March 23 order that stayed the proposed regulations of the Constitutional Council (CC), opening the door to the body to begin the process of appointing a new chief justice.
The tenure of the incumbent Chief Justice is expiring on May 5.
The council’s works were in standstill after the Supreme Court ordered it not to work under the regulations that had no legal basis.
A special bench of Justices Ram Prasad Shrestha, Tahir Ali Ansari and Girish Chandra Lal nullified the order, after a hearing on an application filed by the council to vacate the order.
