Taking up a writ petition against the ministry´s decision to award the tender to the French security printer, the Supreme Court said that there is no reason to stall the process. [break]
Justices Khil Raj Regmi and Krishna Prasad Upadhyay decided not to stay the tender process. With this decision, the ministry can now proceed with signing the agreement with the French company.
Foreign Secretary Madan Kumar Bhattarai said that the ministry is making preparations to sign an agreement with the French security printer either on Sunday or Monday as he is going out of country on Tuesday.
The tender process landed in the court after a group of lawyers filed a writ petition, accusing the ministry of awarding the tender to the French company though the firm offered sub-standard personalized printers.
