Sanskrit classes in Ilam

MANGALBARE, May 16: Sanskrit language classes have been run in Maisthan of Ilam, with an objective of generating manpower who can translate and teach easily in other languages the oriental philosophy written in Sanskrit.



Students passing basic education are admitted to the Sanskrit classes, said teacher Rhishiswor Adhikari.



Subjects like Vedas, Sanskrit language, Sanskrit grammar, astrology, Amar Kosh, Nepali, English, Mathematics, Social Studies and Environment are taught in Sanskrit, the Saptamai Gurukul Study Research Center said.



Classes are run from class six to educate up to secondary level.



Altogether 11 students from Barbote, Golakharka and Soyang have been enrolled for the program, the Gurukul said.



The classes were inaugurated on the occasion of Basanta Panchami on Magh 18 and classes were run regularly from Baisakh 2.



The objective is to preserve religion, culture and tradition, said the chairman of the Gurukul Study Research Center Arjun Thapa.



As it is run inclusively, everyone is welcome, he said.
