Top leaders of the party including Chairman Rajendra Mahato and General Secretary Manish Suman handed over a memorandum to Chairman of the Interim Election Council Khil Raj Regmi on Wednesday and urged the latter to address their demands. [break]
According to central committee member of the party Upendra Mahato, the party has also demanded that cases against leaders and cadres of the armed outfits be withdrawn.
“The move will pave the way for them (armed outfits) to peacefully participate in the fresh election,” reads the memorandum.
The party has also stressed on amending the existing directive related to citizenship distribution so that citizenships may also be issued on the basis of a mother´s nationality.
Likewise, SP has demanded that farmers be given subsidies while buying chemical fertilizers, seeds and agricultural equipment.
In response, Regmi assured them that he would take initiatives to address their demands. According to Mahato, Regmi said that the Interim Election Council will hold an all-party meeting on Friday to discuss election date.
SP Spokesperson Santosh Mehta has already launched a fast-unto-death demanding that their concerns be addressed.
