KATHMANDU, April 9: Three separate Memoranda of Understanding (MoU) were signed on Thursday by the Embassy of India with concerned District Development Committees and beneficiary organizations for providing grant assistance of Rs 90.82 million to educational institutions in Kathmandu, Jhapa and Morang districts.
A statement issued by the Embassy said Rs 22.92 million will go to Shree Mahendra Rastriya Secondary School, Baluwatar, Kathmandu; Rs 35.93 million to Shree Mangalmaya Higher Secondary School, Lakhanpur-1, Jhapa; and Rs 31.97 million to Purbanchal University for upgradation of 5.2 kilometer access road from Gothegaon, Mirgaulia Village Development Committee to Purbanchal University in Morang.

“These schools are the important medium of education in their areas and serve the educational needs of over 1500 students of which almost half are girl students,” said the statement, adding that upgradation of the 5.2-km long road from gravel to blacktop standards will help about 20,000 students of the University and local people.
The above mentioned projects are amongst the 10 development projects in Kathmandu, 13 development projects in Jhapa and eight development projects in Morang undertaken by India in recent years.
