Rs 69m grant for restoring palace

KATHMANDU, Sept 14: The Kathmandu Valley Preservation Trust received a grant of Rs 69 million from the US Embassy in Kathmandu through the US Ambassador´s Fund for Cultural Preservation for the restoration of the then Patan royal palace in Lalitpur.



A total of 16 countries had submitted proposals for the highly competitive fund and Nepal is one of three countries to receive it this year.



The US government had funded the restoration of eight other cultural sites in Nepal which include Nagbahal Hiti in Lalitpur, ancient Buddhist Chhortens in Mustang and Kal Bhairav temple at Kathmandu Durbar Square.
