At a programme organized by 11 student unions here on Sunday, they drew the attention of the government to determine the scientific transportation fare by withdrawing the fare hike made recently and to control price hike on daily essentials.[break]
On the occasion, human rights activist Sudeep Pathak suggested the 11 student organizations to be involved with high-morale to pile pressure to the government for price adjustment, saying the price hike made unnaturally has hit hard consumers.
Pathak pointed out the need of forwarding its protest programmes in an intellectual manner by student organizations and launching an effective campaign for educational reform in view of the situation of the country.
General Secretary of the Consumer Welfare Protection Forum, Ram Chandra Sinkhada said that a scientific transportation fare should be determined.
He stressed on the need of involvement of stakeholders being united against the fare hike as transportation fare is determined as per the number of seats.
Similarly, Chairman of the Citizen´s Judicial Consumers´ Forum, Sahadev Gautam, said that scientific transportation fare should be fixed by determining distance as the fare hike has hit hard general people.
President of the Nepal Students Union, Ranjit Karna, and Chairman of the All Nepal National Independent Students Union (ANNISU)-Revolutionary, demanded with the government that scientific transportation fare should be determined as per the road section, distance and standard.
