Five social heroes, representing numerous others doing selfless service across the country, shared their experience of tackling various challenges during their work in respective fields.[break]
Mahbir Pun, Dr Sanduk Ruit, Dr Govinda KC, Khairunnisa and Indira Sapkota inspired the audience with their experience and fielded questions from the audience during the three-hour program that was facilitated by editors-in-chief of Republica and Nagarik dailies Ameet Dhakal and Narayan Wagle respectively.
Khairunnisa talked about the challenges she faced while promoting use of contraceptives and women’s rights in her Muslim community, Dr Govinda KC shared his experiences while going to remote villages across the country in his quest of reducing unnecessary deaths and disability.
Similarly, Mahabir Pun revealed how his idea of using wireless network to communicate with the neighboring villages while volunteering as a teacher in a community school in his native village of Nangi in Myagdi started a revolution eclipsing his primary agenda of improving education in the remote villages.
Likewise Indira Sapkota related her struggles with the Nepali society of 30 years ago to work outside her home while Dr Sanduk Ruit also shared his experience of turning Tilganga Eye Center into a model institute in world.
Chairman of Nepal Republic Media Pvt Ltd Hemraj Gyawali expressed commitment to give continuity to the summit in coming years while welcoming participants to the summit.
