Vehicles started plying on the Shivachowk section of the East-West Highway where there was no vehicle movement for the past five days.
To ease movement of vehicles, diversions had been built using sand bags so that vehicles did not need to move along damaged sections of the highway. However, owing to moisture, vehicles continue to get stuck on the sand bags despite resumption of vehicle movement.
The Koshi river had destroyed three cofferdams late Tuesday raising fears that this monsoon would witness another disaster like last year´s.
