BIRATNAGAR, Dec 20: Rastriya Prajatantra Party Chairman Pashupati Shumsher Rana on Monday said that misfortune would befall the country if UNMIN was sent without seeking an alternative to the UN political mission.

Speaking at the Biratnagar airport, Rana said, “It is not appropriate to send UNMIN leaving behind the Maoist combatants and weapons in camps.”[break]

He added that although UNMIN should not be kept permanently there must be an alternative to supervision of the ex-combatants and the weapons before UNMIN´s departure.

Coming down heavily on the Maoists, Rana said the decision of the party´s central committee to adopt the tactical line of “people´s revolt” has only added complications to the constitution-writing process.

Rana further opined there was no meaning of the ongoing special session of the parliament.
