A statement from the city of Puning said 22 people were arrested in the Thursday night protest, and no one was injured. The statement said protesters cut through barbed wire to take over the station.
The statement said the protesters started petitioning local authorities over their concerns in September, and that officials had been working to resolve them. The statement did not specify what those concerns were.
The protesters interrupted service from the manufacturing hub of Shenzhen north to the city of Xiamen.
