Protest against Haque's murder enters third day

KALYANPUR (SAPTARI) May 23: Muslim leaders and supporters, who have been protesting the murder of former Constituent Assembly member Sadrul Miyan Haque for the past two days, continued their protests on Thursday.



The supporters of the slain Muslim leader and locals obstructed vehicular movement along the east-west highway demanding high-level probe into the murder. The said they would continue their strike until the home minister personally visits the district and promises to take action against Haque´s killers.

The agitators, who were waiting for the home minister on Thursday, also vandalized an ambulance carrying a patient. The protestors obstructed vehicular movement by placing Haque´s dead body in the middle of the road. [break]



Home minister Madhav Ghimire was scheduled to visit Saptari to hold talks with the protestors on Thursday. However, Ghimire´s visit was postponed due to heavy rainfall across the country.



Former CA member Haque was found dead with his throat slit on Tuesday morning. Haque, 50, of Bishanpur, Kalyanpur VDC of the district was found dead at Huma Oil Traders petrol pump owned by him.



Haque was elected to the Constituent Assembly as an independent candidate from Constituency No 5 of the district.
