The fire that reportedly originated from the house of Padam Prasad Mukhiya spread to engulf three more houses, two hotels and three shops. The fire was put out through a joint effort of the police and local residents, the District Police Office said.
Local resident Jaya Krishna Mukhiya sustained burn injuries while trying to douse the fire.
Padam Prasad Mukhiya, Jaya Krishna Mukhiya, who also sustained burn injuries, Jogani Rai and Chattra Fiyak, who was running a mobile phone shop in the house of Padam Prasad suffered a total loss of Rs. 7.2 million. The fire is reportedly to have been sparked off due to a short circuit. RSS
