Probe Bardiya killings: NHRC

KATHMANDU, March 12: National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) on Friday demanded an independent probe into the killing of three persons by army personnel at Bardiya National Park, Wednesday.



Issuing a press statement, the national human rights watchdog also asked the government and other government bodies concerned to punish the guilty in the incident right away.



The statement added that an NHRC team from its regional office in Nepalgunj has already left for the incident site for necessary investigations.



Nepal Army personnel deployed for security at the national park had shot dead Amrita BK, 33, Chandra Kala BK, 12, and Devisara BK, 35, who had entered the park to collect bark of the kaulo tree.
