Private sector welcomes govt’s Good Governance Blueprint

The Independent Power Producers’ Association Nepal has said the government’s plan to develop an energy export strategy within a month will help attract the private sector in energy trade and the construction of transmission lines.

KATHMANDU, March 30: The private sector has been elated by the government’s 100-point work plans on good governance, stating it as a positive move to rebuild entrepreneurs’ confidence.



Issuing a press statement, the Independent Power Producers’ Association Nepal (IPPAN) has said the government’s plan to develop energy export strategy within a month will help attract the private sector in energy trade and construction of transmission lines. The umbrella organisation of the power developers has stated that the government’s move could also help clear pending power purchase agreements along with all other hurdles, resulting in speedy development of the sector.

Confederation of Nepalese Industries (CNI) has termed the government’s commitments to maintain good governance and to end corruption a positive move. The umbrella organisation of production and service industries has welcomed the government’s announcement to scrap irrelevant old acts and promote policy reforms.


The Nepal Chamber of Commerce (NCC) has hailed the government’s reform plans by stating that it will help boost the confidence of the private sector and promote an investment-friendly environment. The strategy could help secure private property and economic stability in the country, according to the NCC.      


Chandra Prasad Dhakal, president of the Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry, welcomed the government’s move to endorse Private Sector Protection and Promotion Strategy. According to him, the implementation of strategy will help promote investment, employment generation and overall economic prosperity of the country.
