KATHMANDU, Aug, 30: President Dr Ram Baran Yadav on Thursday urged top leaders of the main political parties to promulgate the new constitution at the earliest at any cost.
At a meeting with top leaders of the three main political parties and United Democratic Madhesi Front (UDMF) held at his residence, Shital Niwas this morning, President Yadav pressed them to concentrate on the constitution drafting process.[break]
During the meeting, the president also advised leaders to recommend ordinances only after forging consensus on them.
Talking to reporters after the meeting, CPN-UML Chairman Jhalanath Khanal informed, “We informed the president about the options of reinstating the dissolved Constituent Assembly or entering into the formal process after forging consensus on the contentious issues of the constitution making,” adding, “If consensus could not be forged on the contentious issues, new poll should be held.”
UDMF leader and Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minster Bijaya Kumar Gachchhadar informed that the president expressed his concern on the stalled tasks of constitution drafting.
