Prez for consensus govt before statute

KATHMANDU, April 18: President Dr Ram Baran Yadav on Wednesday said he wishes to see a consensus government in place at the time of promulgating the new constitution and urged the prime minister to make efforts to that end.



During his “regular” meeting with Prime Minister Dr Baburam Bhattarai at Shital Niwas, on Wednesday morning, the president told the prime minister that a consensus government should be in place at the time of promulgating the new constitution, said Ram Rijan Yadav, the prime minister´s press advisor. [break]



"The prime minister told the president that he is in favor of a consensus government," said the prime minister´s press advisor.



The prime minister also apprised the president of the recent meetings between the major political parties on constitution drafting.
