Addressing the investiture ceremony organized by the Ministry of Education at the Rashtrapati Bhawan, Sheetal Niwas on the occasion of the National Education Day today, the President said enhancing the effectiveness of our educational institutions is a challenge before us in the context of the international community moving ahead towards a knowledge-based society.[break]
The investiture was organized to confer various decorations on individuals completing the degree of Ph. D. in different subjects.
On the occasion, President Yadav suggested the Ph.D. degree holders and the scholars securing the best results in their respective faculties to use the knowledge and skills they have gained to nation building.
The Head of the State also called on the scholars to direct their knowledge and intellect towards fulfilling their responsibilities towards the illiterate Nepalis that constitute more than one-third of the country´s population.
Saying that opportunities were needed to unveil each and every possibility, the President said that all receiving higher education should consider themselves as lucky ones at a time when the total enrollment of higher education was limited to 14 per cent.
President Dr. Yadav said, "Your success has signaled the capacities and possibilities. I am confident that you will work to translate the possibilities into reality by being responsible for the country´s development with self-confidence and integrity and proving able in every field."
Also speaking at the program, Minister for Education Madhav Poudel suggested the outstanding students to contribute to the country´s academic sector.
On the occasion, President Dr Yadav gave away medals and certificates to 248 students.
The government is marking this year´s Education Day under the slogan of ´guarantee of child-friendly, compulsory education, knowledge and skill´.
