Police, MMC advance into semis

KATHMANDU, April 21: Nepal Police Club (NPC) and Manang Marsyangdi Club (MMC) emerged victorious on Tuesday to book their places among the last four in the ongoing Second Seven-A-Side Pepsi International Football Tournament at Dasharath Stadium. [break]



With two goals from Bhola Silwal, NPC registered a 3-1 win over the visitors Hong Kong Nepalese Football Association (HNFA) in the first match of the day, and a solitary goal from Jagjeet Shrestha helped MMC edge Friends Club, 1-0, in the other match.



Man of the match Silwal gave scored his first goal in the fourth minute and in the 10th minute doubled the lead for the Police. Silwal scored his first goal from outside the d-box by connecting on a cross from Parbat Pandey; he netted the sceond goal by single-handedly beating his defenders. Yogesh Shrestha put away the match in the injury time by capitalizing on a superb cross from Chetan Ghimire.



Earlier, HNFA skipper Naren Limbu had scored the consolation for his side, in the 20th minute.



In the other match, Jagjeet Shrestha of MMC scored the decider in the 21st minute by executing an excellent move inside the box after teammate Raj Kumar Ghising found him with a cross. Pukar B.K. of Friends Club was adjudged the man of the match.



Host Nepal Seven-A-Side Football Association will take on NPC in the first semi final match on Wednesday.

With a twin from Bhola Silwal NPC registered a 3-1 win over the visitors Hong Kong Nepalese Football Association (HNFA) in the first match of the day and a solitary goal from Jagjeet shrestha help MMC edge Friends’ Club 1-0 in another match.



The man of the match Silwal gave an early lead to the Police in the fourth minute and doubled the advantage in the 10th minute. Silwal scored his first goal utilizing a cross pass off Parbat Pandey from outside the d box and for the second he netted beating opponent players in his solo effort. Yogesh Shrestha killed the match in the injury time capitalizing a superb cross pass from Chetan Ghimire from inside the D box.



Earlier, HNFA skipper Naren Limbu scored the consolation in the 20th minute.

Jagjeet was slapped with red card with one minute left after he was shown two yellow cards for bad tackle. Earlier, he was yellow carded in the 24th minute.

Pukar B.K. of Friends’ Club was adjudged the man of the match.



Host Nepal Seven-A-Side Football Association will take on Police in the first semi final match on Wednesday.
