KATHMANDU, Aug 30: Agitating Pokhara locals have withdrawn a two-day strike called for Friday and Saturday after the government agreed to come up with official stance on construction of regional international airport within two weeks.

“We have decided to withdraw protest after the tourism minister agreed to address our concern within two weeks,” Krishna Mohan Shretha, coordinator of the pressure group, said on Thursday. [break]

The representatives of the pressure group along with political leaders of Pokhara had called on the tourism minister on Wednesday.

Supporters of the airport had been protesting from Mid-August and had shut down the airport last week as well. The locals have been organizing relay hunger strike from last week.
