The International Society of Nepali Literature U.S.A Nepali chapter organised the poetry symposium in which 24 poets including Krishna Joshi, Shailendra Sakar, Benju Sharma, Ram Babu Subedi, Dr. Sushma Acharya, Chandrakala Newa, Laxmi Upreti, Viplob Dhakal, Mani Lohani and Ganesh Rasik read out poetry.[break]
Inaugurating the symposium, litterateur Tulasi Diwasa said the Mahakavi was successful in establishing a unique identity of the Nepali literature through many of his notable literary creations. He called on the Nepali writers to follow the trail blazed by Mahakavi Devkota.
Secretary of the International Society of Nepali Literature U.S.A Nepali chapter, Bishnu Bahadur Singh said the Mahakavi was a multi-talented personality and the credit for taking Nepali literature at the pedestal of international literature goes to the Mahakavi.
Member of the chapter Radheshyam Lekali said the US chapter was established for promoting Nepali language and literature in the international level and that the chapter has made provision for awards in 15 different genres. He said the Society has branches in 65 countries.
Litterateur Maheshwar Panta and Govardan Pooja were felicitated for making contribution to enrichment of Nepali literature.
