Addressing a mass in Lamjung after inaugurating 70-MW Madhya Marsyangdi Hydropower project, PM Dahal said Nepal Army was not parental property of any political party, so integration of the Maoist combatants into it was not an impossible task.
Dahal was referring to strong opposition on integration of Maoist combatants into the army, coming especially from main opposition Nepali Congress and some of the ruling parties as well. “Who is that Nepali Congress to prevent the government from integrating the two armies?” Dahal questioned. “We are in government to decide the issue, not others.”
Dahal clarified about his reported remarks about possibility of his party wielding weapons again. “I meant that people have held weapons time and again in our history if their rights were curtailed,” he said.
He also blamed “some foreign forces and political parties” for hatching conspiracy to topple his government. He also said he is still in confusion about whose government is it because of participation of various parties with diverse agenda in the government.
