Ministers Shankar Pokharel, Uma Kant Chaudhary, Purna Kumar Sherma, Prakash Sharan Mahat, Balkrishna Khand, Minendra Rijal, Prem Bahadur Singh, Mohammed Aftab Alam, Mrigendra Kumar Singh Yadav, Sharat Singh Bhandari, Mahendra Prasad Yadav, Sarbadev Prasad Ojha, Khadga Bahadur Basyal (Sarki) and Ganesh Bahadur Khadka also have not submitted their property details as of Thursday.[break]
According to sources at parliament secretariat, senior leaders including Prakash Man Singh, Bimalendra Nidhi, Ram Sharan Mahat, Bishnu Prasad Poudel, Upendra Yadav, Chandra Prakash Gajurel, Jayprakash Gupta and Deep Kumar Upadhyay are among those failing to furnish the details to parliament.
The parliament secretariat issued a notice requesting members of the 601-seat parliament to submit the details as per the existing legal system. As per the Corruption Control Act and the Commission for Investigation of Abuse of Authority Act, lawmakers and others who hold public post need to submit their property details within two months after the end of every Nepali fiscal year.
A fine of Rs 5,000 can be slapped on to those who don´t submit the property details within the deadline. This aside, the probing agencies can interrogate such lawmakers´ or officials´ families for possessing illegal property.
