KATHMANDU, May 27: Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal was called on by British Minister Alan Duncan for International Development at PM’s residence, Baluwatar, Thursday morning.

During the meeting, British Minister Duncan talked about longstanding relations between Nepal and the United Kingdom and told he chose Nepal first on his foreign visit immediately after the formation of new government for the importance given to Nepal’s development efforts, PM’s Press Advisor Bishnu Rijal informed.[break]

Saying that his country has wished to see political stability after the accomplishment of peace process and constitution drafting in Nepal, he expressed confidence that the political parties of Nepal will be able to bring these processes to logical conclusion.

According to Rijal, PM Nepal thanked for the assistance that have been provided by the UK to Nepal since long and hoped it will be further expanded in the days to come.

Stressing the need to move ahead by forging consensus among the political parties at a time when the drafting of constitution in the stipulated time is almost unlikely due to the political differences, PM Nepal further said all forces should respect the fundamental values and procedures of democracy for this.

In an around half-hour-meet, PM Nepal added violence, use of force and arbitrariness would not be acceptable in democracy and made it clear that no conditions would be agreeable in connection with extending the tenure of Constituent Assembly (CA).

PM Nepal also said he was ready to embrace consensus among the political parties and the conclusion drawn from the dialogue.
