Inaugurating a newly built campus in Dumbre, Bandipur-1 here in the district, Bhattarai cautioned that a situation similar to that the country had between 2007-2017 BS might arise if the parties fail to reach consensus in time and end the current deadlock. [break]
“That time also, King Mahendra had assumed absolute power after parliamentary polls as the constitution could not be issued in time,” he said. “In a similar manner, if monarchy returns (this time), the country will have to incur a huge loss,” he added.
He also said the political parties, at present, have become unpopular as the CA got dissolved, spoiling four years of efforts invested in making a new constitution.
Saying consensus, sooner or later, will be the only way out from the current crisis, PM Bhattarai asked all political parties to relinquish their stances and be flexible for understanding.
Earlier on, locals of Bimalnagar, Tanahun, had greeted Bhattarai with black flags while he was on his way to the program venue, in protest of the PM scrapping the construction of a bridge that would link Bimalnagar to Chyangli of Gorkha.
