KATHMANDU, June 30: Sano Sansar Initiative, a networking organization working in health, environment, and poverty for the last 10 years, is organizing 'Environment Poetry Competition 2015'. The organization is calling all environment and poetry lovers to combine their interest in these two subjects.

Organized in partnership with South Asia Youth Environment Network, Plant for the Planet, Glocal Khabar, and Green the Gene, this competition is a medium for youth championing for a greener and healthier environment to use their creativity.Sagar Aryal of Sano Sansar says, "We decided to organize this contest because we feel that while rallies and other awareness campaigns are good, they are very common these days. Poem competitions on environment don't happen much. It's also a creative outlet which the youth can use to express their thoughts and feelings. And poems are also something that you can keep and look back on fondly."

Aryal adds that they are expecting around 300 poems till the deadline of August 1. The best poems will be picked up by judges and 'Likes' on Facebook. The top 50 poems will be compiled and published in a book.

The competition is open to interested youth from the SAARC nations. Participants must write their poems in the English language.
