BAGLUNG, May 18: A team of paragliding pilots led by Sanubabu Sunar has successfully completed paragliding test flight from the highest point in Matelek in Parbat district.

The test flight from an altitude of 3,100 meters was carried out in coordination with CNN Travels and Tours. The team led by Sunar, who was honored by National Geography as the world´s most adventurous glider in 2012, comprised Nanda Pun and some journalists from the US.

Earlier, commercial paragliding flights were conducted from altitudes of 1,400 meters to 1,600 meters.

"We can start commercial flights from the point if the regulatory authority agrees to provide license," Pun said. "This place also has the ability to attract tourists because of its enchanting natural setting.”

Tourism entrepreneurs are working on starting paragliding flights on a commercial level in Parbat as several appropriate spots have been identified in the district.

"We are seriously considering on the matter as many gliders have successfully completed test flights," Shib Poudel, president of the Parbat Tourism Promotion Center, said.
