NPC to focus on human development in new periodical plan

KATHMANDU, March 16: The National Planning Commission (NPC) is all set to focus on the human and social development in the three-year 14th periodic plan.

The 13th periodic plan ends on coming July 15. Now, the NPC is busy to formulating policies for the coming periodic plan."We are focussing on the human and social development in the coming period," said Dr Sumitra Amatya, member of the NPC. "The policies will insist on making people prosporous," she added.

In a bid to meet the target, NPC will concentrate on technical and vocational education, according to NPC. "We are going to give priority to technical and vocational education plus training," said Amatya. "We are preparing the a framework to get an effective result."

"Our special focus will be on basic education, secondary level education, child development centers, qualitative and investigative higher education," she added. "Merging schools, adjusting student-teacher ratio and quality in public schools certainly help gear up the development process."
